ECDC’s Annual Graduation Ceremony

A pomp and pageantry-like graduation ceremony marked the end this year’s Early Childhood Development Centre’s session, which celebrated the children’s culminating achievements. The annual ceremony was a traditional one, including a graduation procession with the oldest children of 6 years old in bright blue gowns – making their parents beam with pride and happiness.
ECDC was honoured to have the awards distributed by Vice President Kamaal Khimji as well as Mukhianimas and Kamadianimas of various Jamat Khanas. Each participant of ECDC’s many programmes received a certificate of participation with our highest achievers earning a gold or silver medal. ECDC’s Book Club –an initiative aimed at encouraging meaningful, reflective reading practices amongst our youngest children—presented its first ever awards distributed to the children.
During the event, more than 30 of the children took the stage to dazzle the audience with the Gummy Bear, Lolly Pop and Baby Shark songs. But perhaps the loudest applause of the day belonged to the moms who strapped on their babies to perform the popular Sid Shuffle, having practiced tirelessly every Sunday morning.
As the ECDC team looks forward to doing it all over again next year, we would like to emphasize on the immense importance of our children’s futures, our community, and the world they are brought up in. Mawlana Hazar Imam has expressed a specific desire to see every single child in the community access Early Childhood Services and it is our responsibility, as parents, as teachers, as volunteers, and as the Early Childhood Development Centre to work towards realizing our beloved Imam’s wish. During this year of His Diamond Jubilee, it is only fitting that all of us, double our efforts in ensuring the very best for our very youngest. As Nelson Mandela once said, “There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children.”
